HanVoice is pleased to announce changes to its leadership that will ensure a strong and stable future for the organization, both in Canada and internationally.

Sean Chung has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer to lead HanVoice’s global programs. Based in New York, he will be focused on coalition-building, policy development, and advocacy.

David Vella, who brings three decades of experience in charity and non-profit management, has taken on the position of Executive Director, managing HanVoice’s Canadian programs.

His past professional and volunteer leadership work has focused on the arts, education, health and human rights spaces, most recently working with the Toronto International Film Festival as their Director, Board and Executive Relations, and as a volunteer with JAYU, an arts/human rights charity, as their board chair. Based in Toronto, David will lead all aspects of programming in Canada, including managing HanVoice’s resettlement program, advocacy work with chapters across the country, and educating the public through in-person events and programming.

HanVoice is an international charity based in Canada working to advance human rights in North Korea. HanVoice operationalizes its mission through refugee resettlement, human rights education, and policy development and advocacy.
